  • Take it slow, but don’t make it slow

    Shifu Yan at Taishan School of Martial Arts told my class that practicing the taiji form slowly doesn’t mean making the movements slow. It requires instead that we play attention to the internal connections, the openings and closings, of the form. Doing this will keep you from speeding through the routine. Not doing this will result in an empty form.
