About me
I have been practicing internal styles of martial arts since 2000, focussing on Chen Taiji. While living and studying Traditional Chinese Medicine in Victoria, I had the good fortune to meet and train Chinese Martial Arts with Shane Watson and Andrea Falk. I began a serious study of Yang and Chen styles of Taijiquan (Tai Chi Chuan) in Victoria under Andrea’s vigilant eye. I also was able to learn Qigong from Sue Jiang (Lian Gong Shi Ba Fa - 18 Postures for Daily Practice), as well as from Kit Wong.
In 2002 I moved to Guelph, Ontario and opened my Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic. I have continued to study under Andrea Falk, adding Xingyi and Bagua to my studies. I have also had the good fortune to become of student of Jack Yan’s since settling in Ontario. Jack Yan is the only Canadian indoor apprentice of Grandmaster Chen Zhenglei and a gifted instructor in both Yang and Chen styles of Taiji.Enjoy the clips but don’t take them as models to follow for the styles. Doing sequences one after the other and knowing I was being filmed accentuated my shortcomings. Especially the Bagua, which lacks the heavy power and clean lines of the Magui style.
Still, I enjoyed editing this together. Everything but the music arrangement was done on a (partly) solar-powered iPhone. Now it’s time to get back to practicing!Posted on May 17, 2008 with 1 note
